How You Can Offer Popular Guest Room Amenities

popular guest room amenities

Popular guest room amenities attract potential bed and breakfast guests.  Bed and breakfast guests are willing to pay more for bedrooms offering more amenities. In fact, some guest reviewers mention the amenities they enjoyed during their stay (which attracts more guests to stay at your inn).

Some bed and breakfasts have a room comparison chart that lists the guest room amenities available and then puts a dot or check by the amenities that correspond with each particular guest room.  This makes it easy for online visitors to see a room comparison and the price differences since there may be some rooms that have more amenities than others within the same bed and breakfast.

The amenities bed and breakfasts offer often depend upon the location and size of each bed and breakfast.  Geographical location plays a role in choosing guest room amenities (fireplaces usually more common in climates with cooler weather).  Likewise, the size of the bed and breakfast matters.  Typically the more rooms an inn has, the higher the likelihood of upscale amenities.

The amenities at bed and breakfasts range from small things (like an alarm clock and stationery) to big things (like wi-fi internet access and a large flat screen television). There are certain amenities that are usually standard.  For example, almost every bed and breakfast offers a private bathroom to their guests.

Other amenities in bedrooms are less common place.  For example, in-room hot tubs are seen as an added luxury.  This is typically found in bed and breakfasts that cater to those seeking a romantic destination.

The following is an alphabetical list of some guest bedroom amenities and features your bed and breakfast may offer:

We wrote a separate blog post about guest bathroom amenities. Bed and breakfasts may suggest a packing list to help their guests prepare for their visit.

Bed and breakfasts are wise to point out exactly everything that is included in the stay at their luxurious bed and breakfast versus what guests may have to pay for if they chose to stay at a hotel (concierge, breakfast, parking, free wi-fi, wine and cheese, and much more).  By offering popular guest room amenities, bed and breakfasts can separate themselves from other lodging destinations and host more guests.

Rosemary House Bed and Breakfast

Rosemary House Bed & BreakfastThe first bed and breakfast to be featured by Bed and Breakfast Blogging in 2015 is none other than Rosemary House Bed and Breakfast of Pittsboro, North Carolina.

Rosemary House was voted “Best B&B in Chatham County” for three years in a row!  This historic bed and breakfast is a 1912 Colonial Revival home with five cozy guest bedrooms.  Each bedroom has its own private bathroom.

The Haven Room is a haven and more.  Their only first floor room, with a fireplace, queen bed, flat-screen TV, and two comfy chairs. It is decorated in soothing shades of teal and peach. Local artists painted the trompe l’oeil window, the desk, and the marbleized mantel. In the huge bathroom you’ll find an original mural and a 2-person BainUltra tub; let its therapeutic bubbling waters massage away your cares. Separate tiled shower.

The Retreat Room is an upstairs corner room, with a fireplace, sofa, flat-screen TV and queen-sized four-poster bed, decorated in shades of rose and navy blue, with an artist-painted antique vanity. It features a luxurious sunny bathroom that contains a therapeutic bubbling 2-person BainUltra tub and a separate tiled shower.

The Meadow Room is a two-room suite named for its large sunny windows and floral fabrics in rose and seafoam. The comfortable bedroom has an iron queen-sized bed. The beautifully decorated adjoining room holds a loveseat-twin sleeper and flat-screen TV. Up to three people can sleep here. Meadow’s bathroom contains an antique refinished claw-foot tub with a shower attachment.

The Willow Room is a guest favorite. Its blue-and-white color scheme reminded us of the Blue Willow china pattern, hence its name. Located on their second floor, it contains two antique spool beds, both full-size, flat-screen TV, and a bright sunny double window. A comfy chair and beautiful hand-painted dresser. It can sleep four. Tiled bath with tub-shower.

The Holly Room is a comfortable and cheerful sunny corner room on the second floor. Queen-sized Windsor bed and tiled bath with tub-shower. Its decor is sage green and red toile.

Rosemary House front porch. For those wondering how the bed and breakfast got its name, Rosemary House Bed and Breakfast is named for the herb rosemary, traditionally the herb of friendship and remembrance.  This bed and breakfast is a great place for conversations with others in common places such as the porch with its comfortable rocking chairs, but this B&B allows privacy for those wanting to

B&B Guests: Business Travelers

business travelers

Business travelers may decide that they would like the bed and breakfast experience rather than an impersonal hotel. You can attract them by appealing to their needs. For example, in your local area, there may be a business conference in your area or a large corporation nearby or your inn may have its own conference room.

You can cater to their unique business needs by providing things such as a roomy desk with a comfortable office chair and wi-fi internet access as well as a coffeepot with freshly brewed coffee in their own room.  You can find out the most convenient time for them to eat their breakfast. When you go out of your way to be hospitable, they will remember your extra consideration and be a regularly returning guest!
